The heaviest man in the world has wed his fiancée in front of a TV crew and 400 wedding guests in his native Mexico.
Manuel Uribe, aged 43 was transported to a local hall for a civil ceremony on the same custom built bed that he has been physically powerless to leave for more than six years. Both he and the bed were hauled by a truck to the wedding ceremony.
Manuel weighed in at an astonishing 88 stones in 2006, but slimmed to 49 stones for his wedding to 38 year old bride Claudia Solis. The happy couple met in 2004 and became engaged in 2006.
The emotional ceremony was captured on film by US TV channel, Discovery.
Before the ceremony the groom commented:-
“I’m very happy this is a really special day for me. God has permitted this day to arrive and for a beautiful woman like Claudia to marry me. We will start a new adventure together.”
The groom sported a white silk shirt with a sheet wrapped around his legs and the bride arrived in an ivory coloured strapless gown.
The nuptials were recorded by the Discovery Channel as part of a forthcoming documentary featuring Manuel.
