When 25 year old bride Siobhan married the love of her life, Scott aged 24; it should have been the happiest day of her life.

But the Great British weather put paid to their dreams of a perfect wedding when the day turned out to be the wettest day for more than 60 years.

Three-quarters of the couples twenty invited guests were unable to get to the ceremony in Alnwick, Northumberland, and the unlucky pair were forced to abandon their wedding photos which were planned to take place at a beautiful castle as the venue was flooded.

If that wasn’t bad enough, the Rolls Royce that was transporting the bridesmaids to the reception broke down en route and on arrival at the reception venue the newly-weds discovered that the roof had collapsed.

The bride who was eight weeks pregnant on her wedding day said of the catalogue of disasters:-

“We did smile through and see the funny side in the end. I was determined to get married no matter what.” We may have picked the worst possible day but we got there in the end. The most important thing is that we are husband and wife and we love each other. We had a lovely night… but there was water leaking into buckets.”

The happy couple are now looking forward to their honeymoon in Turkey.

When 27 year old Sarah Ward married the man of her dreams, Brian Ashton aged 47, it really was a day to remember… Unfortunately it was for all the wrong reasons!

The white coloured stretch limo which they had hired for their big day was involved in an accident just a few yards away from the church where the wedding was due to take place. The bridegroom was hurt - and more unfortunately his elderly Mother suffered a heart attack.

78 year old Maureen was rushed to the local hospital, and the majority of her children were unable to attend the wedding or the reception and the newly weds’ honeymoon is expected to cancelled.

Despite the unfortunate set backs, the wedding service still took place - although the groom confessed to suffering severed back pain, along with several minor injuries to his arm and legs.

The accident happened in Middleton, Greater Manchester, after the wedding limo was travelling down a hill, swerved into a side road and then skidded into a council van before it collided with a brick wall.

The bride received news of the accident by telephone call as she was preparing for her walk up the aisle.

A young bride and groom were horrified when they realised that their 52 strong wedding party would be left to go hungry when the caterers that they had booked for their reception failed to materialise.

Chef James Kirkby, 24 and his new bride Hannah, 21 assumed that their big day was destined to end in shambles when they arrived at their local village hall in Martinstown, Weymouth for their reception to find it empty - not a morsel of food or a single caterer in sight.

The mortified Mother of the bride made a number of frantic calls to nearby pubs and restaurants without any success. Fortunately, after a number of failed attempts she managed to source a Fish & Chip Shop nearby willing to supply a whopping 52 portions of fish and chips.
.
The SOS call was received at the Marlboro Restaurant & Fish and Chip Shop where owner Mike Johnson saved the day and delivered the meals to the wedding party within an hour.

Mother of the bride Katy Phillips said:-

“We had these giant gold charger plates so we had the fish and chips in their papers on those. Everyone really enjoyed it and got into the spirit of things, the ushers were there handing all the food out. We were nearly left with a lot of hungry guests but it was quite funny in the end. James and Hannah had a lovely day.”

The happy couple had to shell out £200 for the emergency order but have since deemed it worth every single penny for the most memorable fish supper that they’ll ever have!
