The idea of having songs as a part of your ceremony is definitely a rarity, however, they are certainly not unheard of and it can be a beautiful addition to a ceremony that is personal to you.

Obviously their addition to a ceremony will lie solely upon the Superintendent Registrars agreement and it is of high importance that should you wish to include songs in your ceremony, you waste no time in discussing the request with your Registrar early on.

In your ceremony it is most likely that your songs will replace the readings or be straight before or straight after. And once you have all the technical stuff sorted you can then move onto the best bit, the fun bit, choosing the tracks.

As for tracks it’s an open playing field with a little common sense. Clearly hymns are to be avoided and as for other tracks it depends entirely upon the Registrar, as certain tracks such as Robbie Williams Angles have on occasion been disallowed simply because of the title and others have been declined based upon slight lyrics, however provided that your Registrar isn’t a music wiz and doesn’t want to see lyrics your pretty safe just choose wisely. But once you have the best of the best, you’ve forgot the rest and you have your favourite it’s a good idea to get the go ahead and final green light from the Registrar’s Office.
